Administrative Assistant

We are looking for a new team member at Heritage UMC! We are seeking an administrative assistant to work 28 hour/ week. This position is a salaried part-time position. The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support for the pastors, staff and ministries of HUMC.

   Secretarial and administrative assistance to the church staff & congregation




  • Commitment to Jesus Christ and the vision of ministry expressed in the HUMC Mission Statement            

  • Ability to work in a collaborative atmosphere

  • Competent in using personal computer, monitors, keyboards, variety of software and copier; familiar with use of social media platforms

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills



M-Th: 9am-3pm, Fri. 9am-1pm (Totaling 28hrs.)

Some paid holidays and vacation included.



Accountable through the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and the general direction of the Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC).  The Pastor and SPRC will evaluate the Church Secretary after a three-month probationary period of employment. If the evaluation is positive, he or she will be subject to annual evaluations, as well as quarterly goal reviews, thereafter.




  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Manage the efficient daily operation of the church office.

  • Appropriately and professionally greet and assist church members and visitors, both in-person and virtually.

  • Train, utilize and supervise office volunteers as needed.

  • Maintain the digital church calendar, building usage agreements, keys and key code assignments.

  • Serve as the direct assistant to the Pastor(s) in performing duties as requested.

  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled by the Pastor(s).

  • Prepare the weekly worship documents and materials, including worship audio/visual presentations.

  • Assist the volunteer membership secretary to ensure that records of baptisms, deaths, marriages, transfers and membership data are kept current and communicate any changes to the volunteer membership secretary.

  • Operate and maintain office, kitchen and other church equipment, including the ordering of supplies and scheduling maintenance.

  • Assist with other duties as necessary in support of the effective operation of the church.
